WestJet flight from Vancouver to Ottawa diverted after RCMP get info on 'possible explosive'

WestJet flight 142 from Vancouver to Ottawa was diverted to Thunder Bay, Ont., Wednesday night after RCMP received information about a "possible explosive" on board, Thunder Bay police say.

WestJet said the plane landed safely in Thunder Bay, and that authorities deemed the threat "non-specific and non-credible."

The Boeing 737 plane left Vancouver at 4:25 p.m. PT and landed in Thunder Bay about three hours later, sometime between 10:30 and 11 p.m. ET, according to police and the flight-tracking website FlightAware.

Upon landing, the plane was parked in a secure area of the Thunder Bay airport. All 125 passengers and crew members were safely escorted off the plane, which will be searched Thursday, police said.
